The One World human rights documentary festival starts in Nové Město na Moravě for schools on Tuesday, April 22, and for the public on Thursday, April 24. We cordially invite you to the final film block about Slovakia, which will be presented on Sunday, April 27, from 7:00 p.m.
The political and social atmosphere in Slovakia is not good, the space for freedom, diversity and democracy is getting thinner. This year's One World Bratislava festival is currently in danger because people under the influence of the Slovak Minister of Culture, Martina Šimkovičová, have refused to support the festival financially.
The three-part series of shorter documentaries about Slovakia, which we are presenting in NMnM, addresses the cover-up of crimes committed by representatives of the Catholic Church and the rise of nationalism and xenophobia. The originally agreed guest, publicist and sociologist Fedor Gál, will unfortunately not be able to come due to family reasons, but we have a more than worthy replacement.
Andrej Bán is a reporter and photographer for Denník N, a publicist and humanitarian worker. Since 1987, he has been photographing and writing for Slovak and foreign periodicals. He often photographs in countries affected by crises, and brings reports from conflict zones around the world and from Slovakia. Come and discuss the direction of Slovakia and think together about the direction our country should take. Do you want to contribute to saving the 26th edition of the One World Bratislava festival?
