Iva must go to work even when she’s sick, or risk losing most of her salary. When she becomes the first COVID patient in town, she faces accusations of endangering the entire city. An investigative commission is tasked with determining her possible guilt.

The Italian owner of the company scrambles to cover up the miserable working conditions and to buy the support of both the public and the investigating authorities. Meanwhile, Iva must convince everyone that the true culprit behind the outbreak in the city lies elsewhere. Bulgarian director Stephan Komandarev’s social drama delivers an unsparing, critically observant look at modern-day labor exploitation, corruption in Bulgaria, and fractured human relationships. It asks a pressing question: is the reality of working conditions in the European Union really so different from that in developing countries?
